Abstract:		 In June 2006, Birmingham Archaeology undertook an archaeological impact assessment at the former CORUS steelworks, Bloomfield Road, Tipton, West Midlands. The work was commissioned by David Wilson Homes (West Midlands) in order to fulfil a condition attached to planning permission to redevelop the site. A desk-based assessment of all relevant readily available published and unpublished documentary sources was carried out. A rapid survey and a digital photograph record of all standing buildings in the study area were also undertaken. The assessment revealed a site with a long history of iron working.
