Abstract: |
No detectable archaeological anomalies have been discovered. The ditch previously discovered, turned out to be a former field boundary as shown on an 1882 Ordnance Survey map. There are no indications in the present survey results to support the existence of a fort on the site. Natural type responses are likely to be caused by the undulating topography. Trends within the data are probably of an agricultural origin. A large ferrous anomaly within Area 1 was the result of a concentration of modern iron debris, recently buried in the ground by the landowner. Other smaller ferrous responses scattered across the survey area are also likely to be of a modern date. |
