Abstract: |
In May 2005 Birmingham Archaeology were commissioned by University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust to undertake an excavation within the left side of the central range of Metchley Roman Forts in advance of the construction of a car park and public transport interchange. The site was formerly occupied by a building known as the ''Blue Box''. The earliest features identified were pits defining part of a building. These were cut by two timber-framed buildings separated by a gravelled road. One of these buildings was subsequently extended and they were both levelled to construct irregular structures with an associated oven and pitting. |
