The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:
An excavation to the north of the Chelmsford park and ride site at Sandon uncovered evidence of Late Bronze Age occupation. This included post holes perhaps for domestic structures and finds including spindlwhorls and oven debris. In addition to the settlement evidence there were two groups of cremation burials suggesting a cemetery area separated from the domestic focus. C14 dating of the cremations suggests they are contemporary with the domestic pottery. Later field ditches indicates the site was later converted to pastoral farming (still in the LBA) and later pits show some undefined activity here in the Middle Iron Age.
