Abstract:		 Desk-based assessment and field evaluation undertaken in advance of construction of a new detached accomodation block at Gosforth Hall Hotel. The site lies in close proximity to St Mary's Church which has 10th century Anglo-Saxon sculpture within the churchyard, and a previous excavation in 2005 revealed evidence of timber buildings dating to a similar period.
