Abstract: |
Two archaeological trial-trenches were dug in advance of the proposed construction of a new school hall and play area. The excavation of three engineering trial pits was also observed for the presence of archaeological remains. The trenches and trial-pits revealed the remains of a gravel pit, which had been backfilled within the last 160 years. The gravel pit extended across most of the development area and contained fragments of tile, late 18th/early 19th-century brick, and sherds of post-medieval and modern pottery. |
