Abstract:		 During September 2005 an archaeological evaluation was undertaken at Birchwood School, Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire. Three trenches were excavated and no earlier ground disturbance was recorded, other than a series of sectional pipe field drains. It was thus concluded that prior to the building of the school the land was in agricultural use.
