Abstract: |
In early September 2005 [date] Oxford Archaeology (OA) carried out an archaeological watching brief in the courtyard of the Moon and Sixpence restaurant behind the Octagon Chapel, Bath.[location and National Grid Reference] The work was commissioned by L and R Group to monitor three engineering test pits. [client(s)]tomonitor the excavation of [development] The watching brief revealed pre-20th century deposits in only one trench, the others not penetrating construction layers and dump post-dating 1978. The results from Test Pit 1, however, suggest that medieval and earlier deposits are likely to remain at deeper levels. |
