Abstract:		 Archaeology South-East (ASE), the contracting division of University College London Centre for Applied Archaeology, were commissioned by The Goodwood Estate Company Ltd., to undertake an archaeological watching brief during groundworks associated with the formation of a 'cut and fill' soil bund at Counters Gate, Goodwood Country Park, Goodwood, West Sussex (NGR 489760 111359). The work was carried out on 4th December 2006. Monitoring of all instrusive groundworks was undertaken and revealed a sequence of natural chalk geology sealed by up to 0.25m of subsoil in turn sealed by 0.25m of topsoil. No archaeological features were observed.
