Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out by CFA Archaeology during groundbreaking work for the construction of a new extension to an existing dwelling house at 2 Grannus Mews, Inveresk. The site lies within the Scheduled Monument of Inveresk, Roman Civilian Settlement W of Inveresk Gate (SM No. 3293). The watching brief monitored the excavation of deposits from within the entire area of the extension. These consisted of garden soil deposits and natural subsoil up to 1m deep. A single pit containing a post-abandonment fill was recorded in the base of the trench. |
