Abstract:		 John Moore Heritage Services carried out an archaeological watching brief as a condition of planning permission for a ménage at South Lawn Farm, Swinbrook, Oxfordshire. The watching brief revealed four gullies, two ditches, two possible further ditches and two postholes. All of the features containing pottery were dated to the 1st century AD from around the period of the Roman Conquest unlike previous fieldwalking of the area which produced an assemblage of finds including pottery dating to the 3rd and 4th centuries AD. It is possible therefore that the site forms part of a broader settlement pattern. Two phases of activity were identified from the features excavated.
