Abstract: |
Work on the removal of petrol tanks from the site was observed prior to redevelopment of the former petrol station to commercial and residential use. Natural brickearth was overlain by a post-medieval or modern cultivated or garden soil observed in one section at the south of the site. This isolated deposit most probably relates either to the post-medieval agricultural soil on the site prior to its development or to garden soils associated with the 19th century properties located at the east of the site prior to its development as a petrol station. The remainder of the sections recorded revealed natural brickearth directly overlain by modern deposition. |
