Abstract: |
Transport for London (TfL) has been tasked with implementing the Cycle Hire Scheme within central London by summer 2010. Approximately 10, 200 docking points at around 400 sites at a density of approximately nine sites per square kilometre are required. An Archaeological Impact Assessments was carried out, for sites where it was deemed necessary, to identify if further archaeological investigation would be required. A generic Written Scheme of Investigation was written for all sites requiring further archaeological investigation. Docking station 08/610866 was deemed to need further archaeological investigation. This investigation consisted of an archaeological watching brief during all goundworks for the docking station. Two archaeological features were observed during the watching brief. One feature was thought to be the boundary wall of the 19th century Bedlam Hospital. |
