Abstract: |
The site is close to a known Roman cemetery. This cemetery was identified in the 18th century but its location has not been verified. Trial trenching revealed no archaeological features or evidence of ancient land use; there was no indication that the cemetery extended into this area. Occasional topsoil finds of brick fragments and white glazed pottery sherds were of likely 19th or 20th century date. |
