Abstract:		 In December 2009, North Pennines Archaeology Limited undertook an archaeological evaluation on land off the A1290 by the Nissan Works at Washington, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear (NGR: NZ 340 588). This was at the request of MDA Developments Ltd, and was in advance of the submission of a planning application for a sustainable manufacturing centre by Gateshead College (Planning Application 09/02486/FUL).
