Abstract: |
An evaluation undertaken at on the site of the former Honeywell factory on Trout Road, West Drayton. Consisting of ten trenches the work was undertaken in two phases. Phase I-Trenches 5-9 in the southern and central parts of the site and Phase II-Trenches 1,2,3A, 3B, and 4 in the north-eastern portion of the site. No discrete archaeological deposits were found. The earliests deposits encountered were natural clay and gravels in which traces of residual pre-historic material (struck and burnt flint were recovered) was superceeded by post-med ploughsoil and in parts truncated by the remnanats of made ground that were deposited to create the embankment for the Uxbridge branch of the Great Western Railway in the 19th Century. |
