Abstract: |
University of Leicester Archaeological Services was commissioned by Radleigh Homes to undertake an archaeological evaluation prior to construction work at Brook Street, Derby. A prior archaeological desk based assessment had suggested that the site was of some potential for buried remains of the Roman and medieval periods and its position adjacent to the Markeaton Brook raised the possibility of well preserved waterlogged material. Four trenches were excavated on site, none of which uncovered any archaeologically significant remains and the area appeared to have suffered considerable disturbance during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Records will be deposited with Derby City Museum Service, accession number DBYMU 2004-15. |
