Abstract:
Extensive landscape survey of the environs of the Roman villa at Brading, Isle of Wight aimed at furthering understanding of how the villa may have articulated with, and developed within, the surrounding landscape. Caesium magnetometer survey was carried out in conjunction with a programme of limited re-excavation of the main villa structures to re-assess the original Victorian era excavations that first exposed the site in the 1880s with the purpose of updating the interpretation of the site to the visiting public.
