Abstract: |
Three evaluation trenches were excavated. Natural Wandle floodplain gravels were overlain by 18th- to 19th-century ploughsoil. This was cut by a well, a cesspit, and a soakaway associated with the Victorian houses which formerly fronted London Road. These were sealed by demolition deposits beneath modern tarmac. |
