Abstract: |
Archaeology South-East (ASE), the contracting division of the Centre for Applied Archaeology at University College London, was appointed by Sue Burbridge on behalf of the owner Mrs Anne Astleford to undertake an archaeological watching brief at Little Tilden, Ulcombe Road, Headcorn, Kent. The work was undertaken on the 21st and 22nd of November. Excavations included the removal of reducing the ground level by c. 0.5m over an area of c. 17m by 11m, with the perimeter of this area being dug to a depth of c. 1.2m for footings. A system of post medieval drains was encountered, which appear to have been used until very recently. |
