Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained at Old Bridge Of Dee (Invercauld Old Bridge), Aberdeenshire, during the excavation of a new drain near the bridge's south end. The excavation revealed two deposits of mortar and boulders at the east and west sides of the road aligned with the east and west walls of the bridge. These are possibly crude banks built to keep the sandy/gravelly road deposits from washing away. A modern plastic drain was also revealed in the west end of the trench. |
