Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation at 41-59 Church Road, Leyton, London Borough of Waltham Forest, E10 5JL recorded natural terrace gravel cut by an undated plough mark and two undated circular features. 19th century basements were also recorded cutting the natural gravel. Throughout the trenches extensive truncation relating to the the demolition of 1970s buildings during the 21st century was noted. A previous excavation was undertaken on the site in 1978 which recorded a number of Roman ditches and pits containing pottery and coins dating to the 4th century and later. The 2011 evaluation recorded no Roman activity due to previous impacts. |
