Abstract: |
A geophysical (magnetometer) survey was carried out at Scalby near Scarborough where it is proposed to create a rugby ground. Although anomalies have been identified throughout the site it is considered proabale that the overwhelming majority are due to changes in the composititon of the soils and drift geology. However, three anomalies whose linearity may be more suggestive of an archaeological origin have been noted. Nevertheless, on the basis of the magnetometer survey, the archaeological potential of the site is considered to be low. |
