Abstract:
An archaeological investigation consisting of trial trenching and strip map and sample areas along the line of a new haulage road at Park Place, Remenham, Berkshire. In the northern and central area of the site the investigation identified a number of undated features, a large Saxo-Norman to early Medieval pit, a curvilinear ditch of Bronze Age to Iron Age date, Iron Age post holes and a 15th to 18th century ditch. In the southern part of the site Iron Age remains were identified including three large circular Iron Age pits, a linear ditch, four post holes and a large shallow curvilinear feature, possibly a trackway associated with the Iron Age pits/occupation. A small Iron Age pit containing hearth waste was also uncovered.
