Abstract: |
A test pit evaluation was carried out at Wyggeston Farm, Welford, Northamptonshire, on the site of a proposed wind turbine. There had been no previous archaeological finds from the immediate area of the site but an earlier desk-based assessment had identified possible prehistoric enclosures, flint scatters and concentrations of Roman pottery in the wider assessment area. The test pits, covering an area of 15 by 15m, revealed stratigraphy of boulder clay overlain in some areas by silty clay (probably ploughsoil), in turn sealed by topsoil 0.26 - 0.28m thick. There were no finds. |
