Abstract: |
Watching brief undertaken within the thirteenth-century tower at the base of the steps leading up the motte of Launceston Castle. This was for the excavation of a new posthole to enable the lengthening of a safety fence. No archaeology was encountered, and no artefacts were recovered. This area had been cleared of occupation deposits during the 19th century rebuild, confirmed by excavations done by Andrew Saunders (2006) so deposits encountered within this current project were all of modern origin. |
