Article describing the results of a two-phase watching brief, in 2001 and in 2004, at the Royal Army Medical College, Millbank, Westminster, at the site of Millbank Penitentiary. An account is given of the archaeological and historical background, including the design of the penitentiary, which was based on the `panopticon' model of a hexagon surrounded by six pentagons. The article then describes the geology of the site and the remains recorded of the fifth and sixth pentagons, the moat, and other structures.

Account of the discovery and excavation in the grounds of Carew Manor, Beddington, of a fragment of an ornamental garden structure and part of a culvert for draining water from the River Wandle. The remains were part of the Renaissance-style garden laid out by Sir Francis Carew in the second half of the sixteenth century.
