Report on an archaeological evaluation undertaken in 1997 at Laceat Hill, to the east of Brougham, in advance of a proposed (but later abandoned) development. The results indicated the presence of an enclosure or linear boundary of some sort, two phases of which were identified, the second including the incorporation of an entranceway with a stone-lined drainage gully routed through the gap. A radiocarbon sample produced an Early Bronze Age date. Two small, isolated features downslope of the enclosure produced a total of eight sherds of Early to Middle Bronze Age pottery. To the north of the enclosure, the possible truncated remails of cremations were identified, possibly from a small cemetery; a radiocarbon sample indicated a date roughly contemporary with the enclosure. Report on a limited excavation across the line of Hadrian's Wall at Hare Hill, in an area where no Roman masonry was visible, with the aim of finding and examining surviving Roman work and establishing the Roman ground level. The investigation was in carried out in association with a scheme to consolidate and display a 12m stretch of the wall, and included clearance and recording of the remainder of the 12m length. The Hadrianic turf wall and stone wall were uncovered, along with evidence of medieval robbing and boundary wall construction. Summary report on the excavation of an area adjacent to Rickerby House, near Carlisle, including a discussion of the evidence uncovered in its wider context. Evidence of the medieval village, comprising an area of crofts and gardens situated to the rear of the main row of houses facing onto the green, was uncovered; features identified, including a corn-drying kiln, were mostly consistent with a location some distance from the houses. Description of three brass boxes, one of which is identified as a `log timer' or `Dutchman's log'. The latter box, dated to 1766 by an inscription, with curved ends, incorporates a perpetual calendar on the lid and a speed table on the base, along with other engravings and inscriptions. One of the other two boxes is identified as a `smoker's companion'.

Article investigating the influence of Orientalism during the nineteenth century in various aspects of Cumbrian life, in particular those associated with tourism and leisure, including architecture, parks and gardens; the decorative arts, museums and exhibitions; retailing and packaging; and the theatre.

Description of notes on a plan of the township of Bardsea dated 1839, which appear to show a plan of the stone circle known as the Druid's Circle on Birkrigg Common.

Note of an archaeological excavation undertaken at Grange Gardens, Standingstone, Wigton, in 2004, which identified the remains of a field boundary system and a possible ring-ditch structure along with a rectangular enclosure and linear ditches, and pairs of pits. A fragment of Roman pottery was recovered from one of the linear ditches, and remains of probable Iron Age or Roman date have been identified in the vicinity.

Note on a small hoard of Roman coins found in 2005 to the east of the coastal fort at Beckfoot, and containing eighteen poor quality Radiate Copies, a denarius of Commodus, an antoninianus of Gallienus and a small aes-issue of Constantius as Augustus. The issue-dates range between AD 182 and 341.

Notes on a free-standing carved stone head believed to have been recovered from the remains of a building located on the Cartmel Peninsula, and on two stone heads carved into the face of a quarry at Furness Abbey, Barrow-in-Furness.
