Rescue excavations around the S entrance revealed much damage, and only undated and late features were recovered, with scattered and disturbed lithics. Detailed survey was made to facilitate future monitoring of the henge's condition, and better management is now hoped for, though overuse by the public is a problem.

A study of used and re-worked stone axes from Derbyshire

Examination of museum material revealed re-chipping, re-grinding, smoothed and worn axes, pecked areas, and re-used flakes of axes. Nearly one-fifth of all axes seen had such traces, but it is not yet known whether supply difficulties were the cause.
