Abstract: |
Wardell Armstrong Archaeology was commissioned by Persimmon Homes South Midlands, to undertake an archaeological evaluation at Yew Tree Farm, Droitwich, Worcestershire (NGR: SO 9047 6111). The evaluation was primarily required to investigate the potential impact of the proposed housing development on the archaeological resource, for which a planning application has been accepted by Worcestershire County Council. The evaluation, consisting of 51 trenches, found very little in the way of extant archaeology, with the majority of recorded features and finds being of a post-medieval date, with much appearing to be of a modern date. This is likely owing to a paucity of topsoil across the site, with any archaeological remains, if present, likely being ploughed out throughout the course of the site's use for agriculture. Only two features, are not immediately identifiable as natural or modern in nature, yet both yielded no finds - although some charcoal was recovered in samples. |
