Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a retail development within an Archaeological Priority Zone. The course of a Roman road passed nearby, and settlement in the area had first been documented in the late 13th century. During the evaluation, Victorian or later features and the remains of a recently-demolished public house were encountered. It was concluded that no further archaeological work would be necessary.
