Abstract: |
A watching brief during the excavation of geotechnical test pits revealed layers of glacial clay and alluvium across the entire site below deposits of presumed medieval date. A brick floor, possibly with associated wall and buried topsoil was overlain by a layer of river alluvium probably deposited in the post-medieval period which in turn was overlain by two buried soils sealed by demolition deposits. At the western end of the site evidence for the removal of a cellar was identified. [Au(adp)] |
