Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken to determine the implications of proposed development. A large pit, filled with broken pottery of 14th century date, was revealed; medieval pottery production nearby was implied. Following a period of probable flooding the pottery was re-established in the 16th century. Further large quantities of pottery were revealed together with a clay preparation pit and a working floor. The site was apparently abandoned in the 17th century. There was little modern disturbance and archaeological remains were well preserved. Most of the features were waterlogged which increased the potential existence of preserved organic deposits. [Au(abr)] |
