Abstract:
An archaeological evaluation was conducted in advance of a proposed redevelopment of the site for residential purposes. 57 trenches were arranged across the site, which was an open field area at the time of the evaluation. Several features were observed to the east of the site which were of Late Iron Age to early Romano-British in date including; pottery, pits, ditches , post holes. An undated fire pit was also recorded. A residual Palaeolithic hand axe was recovered from top spoil and two post-medieval quarry pits were also encountered. [Au(adp)]
