Abstract:
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the construction of a swimming pool and tennis court. A roughly east-west aligned limestone wall footing and a potential robber trench on the same alignment was observed. Also recorded during the watching brief were a spread of limestone rubble, a large sub-circular feature and a line of potential post holes. Large quantities of Roman pottery dating from the 1st to 4th centuries were recovered from deposits closely associated with these features, as were a fragment of sculpted oolitic limestone and a number of coins.
