Abstract: |
This report, commissioned by the National Trust, offers the first comprehensive research and analysis of the historic designed parkland of Ilam Park, Staffordshire. The work has shown that Ilam Park was highly influential in the development of The Picturesque and has strong cultural associations with figures such as William Gilpin, Samuel Johnson and Mrs Delany. The report concludes by offering new management approaches to sustain and enhance the significance of the designed landscape. |
