Abstract: |
Archaeological evaluation carried out on land at Whitmore Street as part of a condition on a planning application for residential purposes. The work comprised one trench measuring 10m in length and a second measuring 4m in length. The underlying geology is Oxford Clay Formation with superficial deposits of sand and gravel. Limited evidence of medieval settlement activity was encountered. |

Note: |
A programme of archaeological trenched field evaluation prior to development. The works recorded a series of linear ditches, three of which were dated via pottery finds to the twelfth century whilst within one dated feature a sherd of residual mid Saxon pottery was recovered.
