Abstract: |
The site is a large open area, formerly occupied by a 1960s local authority housing estate, (the Wooddene Estate). The evaluation initially consisted of four trenches, Trench 1 had to be abandoned due to the presence of numerous live services. The remaining trenches showed that the site had been heavily truncated during the demolition of the housing estate. Only Trench 2 contained any preserved archaeological remains, with a wall foundation and levelling layer dated to the mid-19th century. |
