Abstract: |
Orkney Research Centre for Archaeology (ORCA) undertook a watching brief at Land Near Quoyloo Cottage, Quoyloo, Orkney (hereafter 'the site') on the 26th October 2012. The watching brief comprised monitoring the excavation of two 3m by 3m wind turbine bases in close proximity to numerous burial mounds. Both trenches contained no archaeological features, and the same depositional sequence was observed in both trenches. The topsoil was 0.10m deep, and sealed the weathered upper surface of the underlying flagstone bedrock. Dave Reay 2012. |
