Abstract: |
A total of eight linear trial trenches were excavated to characterise a number of geophysical anomalies from an earlier geomagnetic survey (Tees Event 922). Trench 1 targeted a feature of presumed geological origin which turned out to be a palaeochannel. Trenches 3-5 target a pair of overlapping enclosures (Tees HERs 8098 and 8099) which were characterised as Iron Age in date. Trenches 6-8 targeted a number of linear anomalies and enclosures (Tees HER 8311) which were also Iron Age in date. The site was noted to have good palaeoenvironmental preservation. |
