Abstract: |
In April 2012 two trial trenches were excavated across a post medieval track (Tees HER 8386) previously identified by a desk-based assessment (Tees Event 985). Trench 1 measured 8.2m long and 1m wide and 0.70m deep, and Trench 2 measured 8.3 long and 1m wide and 0.78m deep. The track had originally been constructed as an earthwork using redeposited clay, with drainage ditches on both sides. It had been recently improved by excavating a channel along the centre of the track and backfilling it with crushed brick rubble and stone. |
