Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in June 2015 at land west of Cirencester, Gloucestershire. Seven trenches were excavated. Six ditches were identified during the evaluation, all appearing to form part of enclosures associated with the Chesterton Farm Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM 464). The ditches corresponded with anomalies identified during a previous geophysical survey of the monument and corroborate the accuracy of the survey interpretations. All of the ditches contained finds dating to the Roman period. The presence of slag in one of the ditch fills may indicate industrial activity on the site. |
