Abstract: |
In order to investigate the archaeological potential of a proposed new development located at 82 High Street, Stotfold, Bedfordshire, the Heritage Network was commissioned by the owners to undertake a program of targeted trial trenching. One trial trench was excavated across the footprint of the proposed new dwelling. This revealed that below the existing concrete driveway was a mixed overburden leveling layer. This overlay a topsoil, which overlay a subsoil, which overlay natural. The trench was empty and no features, deposits or finds were encountered on the site. On the basis of the results of the evaluation, the risks that the proposed development might disturb archaeological remains of any significance may be considered as Low for all periods. |
