Abstract: |
Terrain Archaeology undertook a programme of archaeological observations and recording during the construction of a new road and footpaths in an extension to Upton Country Park. This revealed a series of medieval boundary ditches, perhaps representing fields associated with a small farm on the heathland at the edge of Holes Bay. These ditches are probably 13th-14th century in date, though a small quantity of 10th-12th century pottery hints at earlier activity. To the north of these ditches were some indications of possible clay or cob structures and hearths of possible medieval date. |
