Abstract:		 Minor excavations were carried out in the walled enclosure just NW of the castle in advance of work to install a new car park and improve access (HY 4289 4872). These main works were followed by a smaller area of excavation following the demolition of part of the boundary wall along the west perimeter of the ground surrounding the Castle (HY 4291 4872).
