Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in November 2014 at Lower Basset Down Farm. Fourteen trenches were excavated. The trenches were targeted on anomalies identified during the geophysics as well testing blank area, the trenches in the southern part of site revealed several modern walls as well as modern field boundary ditches. A desk based assessment produced prior to any works starting identified a late post medieval to modern building located in the south of the site which helps date the walls found. In the west of the site the geophysics identified possible ridge and furrow and the evaluation trenches were able to confirm that this was correct. |
