Abstract: |
Six archaeological test pit and three geotechnical test pits were monitored for an archaeological evaluation. Only in the north-east of the site was possibly un-truncated natural deposit found at c.15m OD, elsewhere these had been truncated down to c.13.50m OD. Cut into the natural ground in the south of the site was a natural feature possibly a pond or channel. Elsewhere, the archaeological deposits found consisted of soil horizons and Post-Medieval pits dating from the 16th-18th Century. This was followed with brick basements and structures associated with the urbanization of the area from the late 18th Century onward. |
