Abstract: |
Rapid walkover survey using a GPS, to assess the woodland's potential to contain well-preserved archaeological remains. The wood was walked in transects aligned N-S or E-W, approx 50m to 100m apart. The survey is only a sample of the wood, and should not be taken as exhaustive or its results as definitive. Features identified included charcoal burning platforms, hollow ways, trackways, woodland boundary banks, quarries, a stone building and a causeway. |
