Abstract: |
A geophysical (magnetometer) survey covering approximately 5 hectares was carried out at Andoversford in Gloucestershire in advance of the possible development of the site. Despite the site being located in a landscape of high archaeological potential no anomalies of obvious archaeological significance have been identified. Only anomalies caused by pipes, drains and ridge and furrow cultivation have been located. The presence of alluvial deposits and extant earthworks at the eastern end of the site means that the presence of archaeological remains beneath these features/deposits cannot be discounted. Nevertheless, based solely on the results of the survey the archaeological potential of the site is assessed as low. |
