Abstract: |
In April 2002, English Heritage and the Boltby Millenium Group carried out archaeological survey and investigation of the earthworks of a possible medieval manorial complex on the edge of the village of Boltby in North Yorkshire. The investigation established that there are four principal elements of the complex that may be interpreted as medieval: the supposed manorial enclosure, the moat, a large building platform and some of the earthworks to the east of the moated enclosure, about which further speculation would be premature without trial excavation. (This was report 19/2002 in a previous series). |
